Creating a Website
Strategies

1. Think about the overall objective(s) of your promotion

How do your products or services help your clients or customers? How do you sell (or intend to sell) your products or services.

2. How do you intend to use your Web site on the Net

Make a list of all the ways you have used the Net for marketing, and all the ways you think you could use the Net for marketing

3. How do you intend to Promote Your Site

If you ask 10 Internet marketers what is the best way or ways to market on the Internet, you will get 10 different answers. One will be adamant that Lists And Newsletters/Enzymes is best while another swears by Search Engines and Links to sites with the same content is. In general, they will rank the following methods in the top four, but not necessarily in the same order: Search Engines, Link Exchange, Newsletters/Enzymes and Email lists. Throw in Classified Adds, Free Links, Bulletin Boards, Press Releases and Spamming and you can get overwhelmed in a hurry.

4. Targeting VS General

So what does all this mean. Just that there are a ton of ways that you can and should market your service or product. You can go as broad band as you can - that is cover as many ways as feasible, or you can specialize in your promotions. However you decide, make sure you KNOW HOW TO DO IT RIGHT! What good is it to advertise 10 different ways if none of them are effective. And remember, do not try to do everything at once. Know what you do best and do that first and foremost.

5. Tailor you Promotions

Every business/opportunity must be promoted differently. For instance, If you are promoting MLM, you will have a hard time getting reciprocal links if they are promoting antique cars. Every opportunity has is most effective marketing realm as well as the least. Use the type of promotions that will be the MOST EFFECTIVE for your chosen product, service or opportunity.

7. Check on your Competition.

See how they present their product. Ask yourself, if I was a customer, would I respond to this offer? If not, what could you do so that you would.

What, How, How Many, How Often.

What

Now prioritize what you are going to do. Start with the most important aspect - What you are promoting. Do not try to promote more than one business or service at a time. Focus on doing one thing well.
How

How to promote it. Of course, you will do it more than one way, but start with the fastest (Example: If you are promoting a website, that means the to the Major Search Engines - the sooner it is exposed, the sooner you get results), then prioritize to the most effective to the least. The fastest way to get hits and see which keywords sell is through one of the pay for clicks search engines, like Overture or FindWhat.
How Many

Just how much time do you have to promote you opportunity effectively. It will not do to do 10 things poorly when you can do 1 well. Bad promotions equal bad results. One good promotion on any level can overwhelm you with success.
How Often

For every promotion there is a cycle. Search Engine cycles can be up to 45 days before the results are in while Email campaigns show up in a matter of hours. Gear you repeat promotions for your ability to handle the responses or lack of them. If your campaign is a success, make sure you are set up to handle the responses and do that first. If your campaign is a bust, take time to analyze why and make changes and try again. There is no point in re-promoting a bad advertisement.
